![]() The Mega 2560 is an upgrade from theArduino Mega, which it replaces. The Mega 2560 board is compatible with most shields designed for the Uno and older Duemilanove or Diecimila boards. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with an AC-DC adapter or battery to get started. It has 54 digital input/output pins (15 of which can be used as PWM outputs), 16 analog inputs, 4 UARTs (hardware serial ports), a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power socket, an ICSP connector, and a reset button. The second one is a not connected pin, that is reserved for future purposes.įor more information, please see Arduino's details.TheArduino Mega 2560 is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega2560. The article Connecting the Programmer: In-Circuit Serial Programming (ICSP) at Sparkfun describes some of the functions of ICSP pins, which include MISO, MOSI, SCK, V+, Ground, and Reset. In future, shields will be compatible both with the board that use the AVR, which operate with 5V and with the Arduino Due that operate with 3.3V. Arduino may make changes to specifications and product descriptions at any time, without notice. A typical Arduino ICSP header has six pins, arranged 2x3. This list is for 2x3 ICSP headers, if you want to use the 2x5 instead, see the image. ![]() Be sure to remember which side everything goes to.
